Remember: don't mix Diamox & Cosquena! Makes the pappas fritas come back up. ;) Ahh... it wouldn't be Peru without mention of bodily functions at every meal.

We spent our honeymoon hiking the New Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It was the hardest hike of our lives - the 14,000 mile altitude over Salkantay Pass didn't help, but it was worth it. A beautiful country, full of beautiful people. Try some Alpaca before you go, and Quinoa soup. We fell in love with Quinoa and are always looking for recipes to cook with it.

PS - if you can get up at the butt crack of dawn and hike the stairs to Machu Picchu - the sunrise and the silence are well worth it. It's breathtaking. When the tourists arrive on buses, it kind of ruins everything. Get up early and go!
